"Thank God he decided to stop." “Absolutely it’s a miracle, absolutely without a doubt. I recognize I’m an agent for God maybe, but it wasn’t his time,” Vazquez said. According to Vazquez, Russo had a blocked artery to the left side of his heart.
West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, FL - On Nov. 25, 2018 Jody Russo was bicycling on Ocean Drive on Singer Island when he had a heart attack and collapsed on the side of the road. He stopped breathing and was turning blue. Fortunately, physician Dr. Ramon Vazquez was driving by. He stopped and quickly started doing CPR on Russo until paramedics arrived. After undergoing surgery, Russo spent several days recovering at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. He was released Thursday and is completely fine. Russo says Dr. Vazquez was in the right place at the right time.
“Dr. Vasquez came along and rescued me and beat the heck out of my chest and got me here and saved my life," Russo said. "Thank God he decided to stop."
“Absolutely it’s a miracle, absolutely without a doubt. I recognize I’m an agent for God maybe, but it wasn’t his time,” Vazquez said.
According to Vazquez, Russo had a blocked artery to the left side of his heart. Such conditions, he says, are often fatal.
“Usually, people don’t make it with that type of cardiac condition," said Teresa Urquhart, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center CEO. "We do phenomenal things and we save peoples’ lives and make a huge difference to the people in our community, and I’m very proud of that."
