(1888 PressRelease) The Canadian media company, led by producer Mark S. Berry, posts its latest acquisitions.
Music and film media indie AMG on Wednesday unveiled a strategy refresh including plans to grow its feature film & television businesses. AMG Chairman Mark Berry has been leading the company since 1998.
"In the future, we'll focus on three key areas — strengthening the integrated producer broadcaster [business model of operating networks and the AMG-TV Studios TV production business], growing Canadian and global production, and creating a scaled direct-to-consumer business" Berry said.
Berry further detailed AMG’s goals in those three core focus areas, saying: "AMG will be more than TV — it will be a structurally sound integrated producer broadcaster where our ambition is to maintain total viewing and increase total advertising revenue; it will be a growing and profitable content business, which drives returns; and it will create value by developing and nurturing strong direct film & television relationships, whereby digital broadcasters want to spend money on a range of content and experiences with the trusted AMG brand."
Berry said that AMG sees an opportunity to build a new subscription VOD service in Canada, potentially with partners, as part of its focus on its direct-to-consumer relationships through AMG-TV.
“Television is changing as over-the-air, cable and OTT all come together into a more seamless viewing experience for consumers,” said Duane Farley, EVP of AMG. “With national reach and scale, the AMG-TV networks represent valuable real estate, consistent with our strategy to remain a leader in the evolving television landscape.”
AMG will in 2019 invest heavily across its businesses in the new strategy as part of a three-year plan. "Which we will achieve without impacting the culture and creative and commercial strength of the businesses."
It also unveiled targets for the new strategy's revenue benefits over a three-year period, including "AMG-TV share of viewing anticipates a wide range audience with outstanding contributions from Sizzlin’ Cooking Show and Backstage Kitchen" said Berry.
