On 28th March 2018, Amdocs has declared its implementation of Open Network Automation Platform (ONAP) on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. Amdocs is a leading provider of software and services to communications and media companies. The new development will help the operators to deliver virtual network services by organizing and managing using ONAP that are running on Azure. To make ONAP code available for the open source community by May 2018, Amdocs is working with Microsoft. In Los Angeles, this week, Linux Foundation’s Open Network Summit, Amdocs and Microsoft is planning to show through a demonstration of ONAP running on Azure, that how the operators could gain the time-to-market and cost benefits of public clouds. The network operators on the other hand will be able to deliver network services that are running on Azure as the primary cloud or as the complementary capacity to display the virtual network functions for the private cloud, which are managed and organized by ONAP. In a recent interview, Anthony Goonetilleke, Group President of Amdocs Technology said that this project is the first step in the development of ONAP to organize a multi-cloud environment where the network capacity in a dynamic way can be consumed across a combination of private and public clouds. He further said that this is the validation point that shows that the industry momentum behind ONAP is to reduce the direct investment to enter on a network virtualization strategy. And it is also a proof on the point that Amdocs and Microsoft’s commitment to continue the innovative and promote the open source networking solutions to advance the adoption of NFV.  Yourself Khalidi, Corporate Vice President for Azure Networking, Microsoft Corp. said that today’s new generation operators are tested by the complexity and cost of developing the existing network infrastructures and need for new cloud services to make the faster network virtualization.  While addressing these issues, Amdocs and Microsoft are looking for ONAP to control the network services on Microsoft Azure. It is mixed solution that are helping the network operators while carrying out the advanced virtual network functionality, simple and reliable automating operations and decreasing the costs by using the open source technology and cloud based services.
