Every teacher struggles with getting students to work. It is highly important that when a teacher conducts a lesson in the class, he has the attention of each one of the students. It is important but sort of tricky. So what does a teacher need to do in order to keep the students interested in the activity happening in the class? It is not just the case with toddlers, even college students have a very short interest span and they are very distracted during class. There are several ways a teacher can make daily boring classes fun and full of learning.
Open Yourself to Possibilities: It is very challenging to bring up something new in the class everyday in order to gain attention and be interesting enough for students to take interest in you and then in your lecture. What you need to understand is, you must open yourself to new ideas. Hire dissertation writing services. Now this isn’t something that you are doing on a personal level. You must let the students discuss stuff and even if some ideas do not make sense to you initially, don’t mark them as absurd and shut them out, think about the possibilities.
Placement and Class Arrangement: You must dedicate an hour (depending on the class strength) for discussion where you encourage students to talk and discuss what they have in their mind regarding a specific topic. There should be no strict sitting orders and they must be allowed to sit wherever they want. They should feel free in the class rooms and the environment should not be restricted.
Anonymous Notes: Allow students to express at the end of every new topic to write a note anonymously explaining what they don’t understand in the topic what they did not like. They can even suggest something in the note. Shuffle the notes and take turns in reading them out loud.
Do Not Rush Lessons: When you move on to new lesson, make sure every student is clear with the previous lesson. Take your time in finding that out.
Make Use of Tech in the Class: Oh very necessary is the use of tech in the class. Want to get rid of those yawns? Feel frustrated? Bring in a PS4 in the class and have a gaming session on the IWB and you will see the immediate difference. Have a gaming session after every new lesson and initiate discussions from the game. Be sure of the rating of the game though, you don’t want the students to play a game full of violence in the class. Take the students on a virtual trip around the space or a far off place or have them thrown in their ideas and pick a random idea from them and apply it in the virtual sessions. Make sure to incorporate videos and flip charts in the lessons to make them understand the lesson better with more interest and witness the improvement in the class.
