Slowly but surely the human population is becoming more environmentally conscious. From green cars to recycling to all-natural sugar substitutes, more people are demanding green alternatives. With the advanced role technology plays in the lives of everyone, it is only a matter of time before every aspect of the industry is environmentally sound.
Technologically focused industries tend to be the first to adopt smart technologies, it only makes sense. One problem that the industry has been faced with is the exposure to extremely-low-frequency magnetic (ELFM) waves.
Electricity carries with it both electric and magnetic fields. Since the 1970’s, when the question of health risks from electricity first arose, a great deal of research on the topic has been done. In 1996, the International Electromagnetic Fields Project was started to investigate any health risks associated with ELF producing technologies.
Some of the items which expose us to ELF waves are TV’s computer (especially laptops with WiFi), digital alarm clocks, smart meters, microwaves, and cell phones. All of these seemingly harmless objects, but they are constantly emitting electrical and magnetic waves
Most appliances operate at a frequency of 50 to 60 cycles per second (Hz). Short-term exposure to low-frequency waves and magnetic waves was found to cause excitability in the nervous system and muscle stimulation when the magnetic field was strong enough.
On a long-term scale, ELF magnetics fields may lead to cancer, specifically Leukemia, in children, The research is not conclusive, but it does indicate that the fields could be carcinogenic to human beings. Other potential side-effects include reproductive problems, developmental disorders, depression, cancer in adults, cardiovascular disorders, and may lead to suicide.
Some of the early side-effects of an overexposure to ELF waves are headaches, tingling, numbness, lightheadedness, migraines and nausea. Though these are uncommon, if they do occur a doctor should be seen immediately.
Green cables, that is those with a minimal environmental impact, eliminate hazardous substances, such as lead from their product. This does not mean that they lose any of their quality, however. They utilize the most advanced technology imaginable and have excellent quality.
ELF magnetics waves are being eliminated with special insulation. When it is placed between the wires and the sheathing, Many of those ELF waves never make it out into the world. As an added bonus, wires are becoming more resistant to fire and corrosion. This increases the longevity of the wires installed in various applications and appliances.
These new technological advancements do not mean that a limited selection needs to be suffered through.Cabling staffing preffer Green cables that are available in most sizes and in most colors. They work the same way as traditional wires, but may prove cheaper in the long run.
