For years we have known around 6-8 types of yoga and practiced them too. And then came Anti Gravity Yoga, a type that evolved in New York. If you’ve done anti gravity yoga, we hail you! For Anti gravity yoga hasn’t gained as much popularity as the rest of them.

Fun. Challenging. Effective.

It’s fun because you get to bring your dance moves on the yoga floor! Awesome right? But here’s the twist, it is challenging. Anti gravity yoga makes you do various yoga poses, aerial acrobatics and pilates while you hang on a silk hammock. While it requires a lot of strength to do anti gravity yoga, it makes your whole body to work out.

Does the above give you an image of a chimpanzee hanging? May be it sounds and seems like that but we assure you it has a high fun quotient to it. So what exactly is anti gravity yoga?

A fusion technique that involves yoga, pilates, aerial arts, calisthenics and other dance moves. It’s incredibly fun and gives you a work out from head to toe.

Because it’s fun, it’s a stress buster. This fusion technique has a lot of health benefits. Its helps in  spinal alignment, spinal flexibility, allows the circulatory and lymphatic systems to refresh while stimulating the neurotransmitters in the brain.

While it  has its roots from yoga, many yoga poses and techniques are done mid air on the silk hammock; some are done upside down.

The only prerequisite for people doing it for the first time is to be free and go for it. Let loose of all your inhibitions and work out according to your pace.
